Study: The Flemish farm
Independent accommodation units with a focus on privacy and tranquillity, adjoined by open units designed to encourage connection. The challenge is to create a welcoming atmosphere without compromising the privacy of the guests.
Type E is used here because of the cohesion of the irregular pattern in the cladding between the irregular play of window openings and the different identities in the courtyard. RAL 6020 ‘chrome oxide green’ was used for the colour. This is combined with the lime wash of the existing brickwork and concrete sills and lintels as window accents. An old, ‘mature’ green that blends into any season. In the interior gardens, vertical greenery can also be used against these panels to draw the landscape into the courtyards and paths.
