Maintenance of Aluminium Cladding
Aluminium cladding is easy to maintain… but not maintenance-free. Discover how to preserve the look and performance of your façade over time.
Why maintenance matters
Aluminium cladding is known for its durability and resistance to weather conditions. Under normal circumstances, intensive maintenance is rarely required.
However, regular cleaning helps maintain its appearance, finish, and long-term performance.
- Protection against dirt and air pollution
- Prevention of stubborn deposits (cement, dust, moss, etc.)
- Slowing down natural ageing and colour fading caused by sunlight
Initial cleaning after installation
After installation, it is recommended to clean your cladding for the first time. This removes construction residues before they can settle into the coating. Use a suitable cleaner to remove cement residue and a soft cloth.
Attention:
Avoid contact with acid-sensitive materials and protect your skin when using cleaning products.
Routine maintenance
- Use a mild, suitable cleaning product
- Always use a non-abrasive cloth or sponge
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water
- Apply a UV-protective product to preserve colour intensity
Tip:
In coastal or highly polluted urban environments, more frequent cleaning is recommended (up to 2–4 times per year).
Intensive maintenance
Every 2 to 3 years, a more thorough cleaning is recommended:
- Pre-rinse with water to remove surface dirt
- Use a dedicated cleaner for stubborn deposits
- Rinse thoroughly with cold water
Impact of UV exposure and heat
- UV radiation: affects resins and accelerates ageing
- Infrared radiation (heat): increases surface temperature and promotes dirt adhesion. Darker colours absorb more heat and are therefore more sensitive to these effects.
Tip: Regular use of a UV-protective product helps slow down this process and maintain the original appearance of your aluminium cladding.
Maintenance of Film-Coated Aluminium Cladding
Maintenance of Type B Wood
With Type B Wood, you benefit from aluminium cladding with a warm, wood-like appearance inspired by light or dark oak. Thanks to a multi-layer coating in PVDF and PMMA, this finish offers excellent resistance to UV and chemical exposure.
For maintenance, we recommend using cleaning products suitable for PVC and compatible with this type of finish.
